No. Its calculation or transformation happens on your device.

Using PDF Page Size Calculator with the right inputs

Show standard PDF and print paper dimensions in millimetres and inches. Start by matching your task to the quantities and options shown below. The definitions of the inputs matter as much as the final number or transformed output; retain the original values so that you can repeat or check the result.

Inputs and options explained

  • Paper size: choose A5 — 148 × 210 mm, A4 — 210 × 297 mm, A3 — 297 × 420 mm, US Letter — 216 × 279 mm, US Legal — 216 × 356 mm, US Tabloid — 279 × 432 mm.

Method and interpretation

Choose a paper format to look up its stored width and height in millimetres. Inches are calculated by dividing each millimetre dimension by 25.4.

Worked example

A4 is 210 × 297 mm, displayed as approximately 8.27 × 11.69 inches. US Letter uses 215.9 × 279.4 mm, equivalent to 8.5 × 11 inches.

Assumptions and limitations

Some option labels round millimetres to whole numbers while the result retains a more precise dimension. Trim size, bleed and printable area are different measurements. This lookup does not detect the size of a PDF you already have.

Are A4 and US Letter interchangeable?

They have different proportions and dimensions. Changing formats can alter scaling and pagination, so check the print preview rather than assuming a one-to-one fit.

Before you use the output

  • Choose the intended action: Show page size. Re-run the operation after changing an input or mode so that you are checking the updated result.
  • Read the result label and any accompanying explanation. Keep the input values or source file with the output so that a later comparison uses the same assumptions.
  • If a result looks unexpected, check units, separators and selected options first. Try a smaller example you can verify rather than repeatedly changing several settings at once.

Questions or a result that needs checking?

If you find a discrepancy, report a problem with PDF Page Size Calculator. Include a non-sensitive example, the selected options, the result you expected and the result shown. This makes the issue easier to reproduce. See About & privacy for how the site handles tool inputs.
