About Random Number Generator
Generate a copyable list of locally generated random numbers.
Does this tool send my data anywhere?
No. Its calculation or transformation happens on your device.
Using Random Number Generator with the right inputs
Generate secure random integers in a range. Start by matching your task to the quantities and options shown below. The definitions of the inputs matter as much as the final number or transformed output; retain the original values so that you can repeat or check the result.
Inputs and options explained
- Minimum: Enter the numeric value for this quantity using the units or scale shown in the label.
- Maximum: Enter the numeric value for this quantity using the units or scale shown in the label.
- How many numbers?: Enter the numeric value for this quantity using the units or scale shown in the label. The form indicates a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 1000.
- No repeated numbers: enable this option only when you want that condition to apply; compare it with the option disabled if you are checking its effect.
Method and interpretation
Whole numbers are drawn from an inclusive minimum-to-maximum range. The tool uses the browser's cryptographic random source with rejection sampling to avoid modulo bias. The no-repeats option selects distinct values within the range.
Worked example
Set the minimum to 1, maximum to 10 and count to 10, then enable no repeats. The output should contain each integer from 1 through 10 once, in a varying order; no fixed sequence is an expected result.
Assumptions and limitations
The form accepts 1 to 1,000 requested numbers. Endpoints must be safe whole numbers, with at most 4,294,967,296 possible values. When no repeats is selected, the count cannot exceed the number of available values. A random sample is not guaranteed to look evenly spaced.
Are both endpoints included?
Yes. A range from 1 to 10 has ten possible values, including 1 and 10. Repeated values are possible unless the no-repeats option is enabled.
Before you use the output
- Choose the intended action: Generate numbers. Re-run the operation after changing an input or mode so that you are checking the updated result.
- Read the result label and any accompanying explanation. Keep the input values or source file with the output so that a later comparison uses the same assumptions.
- If a result looks unexpected, check units, separators and selected options first. Try a smaller example you can verify rather than repeatedly changing several settings at once.
Questions or a result that needs checking?
If you find a discrepancy, report a problem with Random Number Generator. Include a non-sensitive example, the selected options, the result you expected and the result shown. This makes the issue easier to reproduce. See About & privacy for how the site handles tool inputs.
